Frequently asked questions
What Productivity Workbench is, how the two ways of working differ, and how the AI side is governed.
The product
What is Productivity Workbench?
Productivity Workbench is a product delivery platform for product owners and delivery teams. It covers the whole path from an idea to a released change: vision, outcomes, epics, features, stories, sprints, capacity and reporting.
It offers two ways of working. The Product Workspace is team-led agile delivery, using Scrum for smaller teams and SAFe for larger enterprises. The AI Product Studio is AI-native delivery, where a governed fleet of AI agents executes against a stated intent and a person reviews every output before it ships.
What is the difference between the Product Workspace and the AI Product Studio?
They are two alternative ways of working, not two tiers of the same thing. Neither is the basic version of the other.
In the Product Workspace, people do the work and the tool supports them: a team plans a sprint, pulls stories, moves a board and reports on the outcome. AI is optional here and arrives through bolt-ons of deliberately modest scope.
In the AI Product Studio, AI agents do the execution and people set direction and review results. It replaces the sprint cycle with a continuous agent-assisted loop: state an intent, approve the plan at a human gate, let agents run, then accept, amend or reject what comes back.
Can I use both the Product Workspace and the AI Product Studio?
Yes. They are two ways of working covered by one set of plans: one subscription covers both, priced per person, and someone who works in both counts once. A business that runs several of either administers them together from the Organisation Hub.
What is the Organisation Hub?
The Organisation Hub is a management plane, not a third product and not a way of working. It lets a larger business structure and administer many Product Workspaces and AI Product Studios from one place, with shared policy and estate-wide reporting.
Every paid plan is bought by an Organisation, so the Hub comes with Business and with Enterprise. Organisation-wide governance — guardrail policies, single sign-on, SCIM provisioning and shared AI providers — is part of Enterprise. The Free plan needs no Organisation.
Does Productivity Workbench support SAFe?
Yes. The Product Workspace supports the Scaled Agile Framework, including PI planning, Agile Release Trains, solution trains and portfolio alignment, alongside the reporting large estates need to stay coherent.
Smaller teams can use plain Scrum instead. The hierarchy depth is configurable, so a small team is not forced to carry portfolio-level structure it does not use.
Does it integrate with Jira?
Yes. Productivity Workbench integrates with Jira, and the API token is held server-side, encrypted with a dedicated AWS KMS key, rather than in the browser.
AI and governance
What is the AI Delivery Lifecycle (AIDLC)?
The AI Delivery Lifecycle, or AIDLC, is the method the AI Product Studio runs on. It replaces the sprint cycle with eight phases that carry an idea from intent through to release, each with a human decision gate.
It exists because AI changes where the effort goes. When execution is cheap, the scarce work becomes stating intent precisely and reviewing output properly — so the lifecycle is built around those two things rather than around estimation and iteration planning.
Do AI agents ship code without a human reviewing it?
No. Every work package passes a Definition of Done before it can complete, and that gate needs both its reviewer agents and a person to approve it. The agents read the pull request itself; the Studio puts a Definition of Done status or check on it, which the repository can require before a merge, and a release can be approved only by a named person.
There is also a plan gate before execution starts: a person approves the plan an agent proposes before the agent acts on it.
Does the AI Product Studio need a GitHub personal access token to connect a repository?
No. A GitHub repository can be connected through the Productivity Workbench GitHub App instead of pasted tokens: the Studio then reads with short-lived tokens that reach only that repository, and posts its merge hold and reviewer agents' verdicts as the app's own bot account. Tokens remain a fully supported alternative, and GitLab, Bitbucket and Azure DevOps connections use tokens.
The app can read code, pull requests, issues, checks and Actions runs, and it writes checks and pull request comments. It has no permission to push code or merge, and the Studio never uses it to approve a pull request: a person's approve, merge, tag and publish always use that person's own GitHub account. Whoever administers the GitHub account installs the app on the repositories they choose and can uninstall it at any time, which stops every Studio connected through it.
Is there an audit trail of what the AI did?
Yes. Every gate assessment, answer and decision is kept on the work package as append-only evidence, with who made it and when, and release approvals and outcome checks are recorded the same way — alongside the append-only audit log the rest of the platform writes for create, update and delete operations.
Audit rows are written to a dedicated table that the application role is explicitly denied permission to update or delete, so the trail cannot be quietly rewritten by the application that produces it.
Can I use AI in the Product Workspace without moving to the Studio?
Yes, through bolt-ons. The AI Assistance bolt-on adds drafting help for visions, outcomes, features, stories and acceptance criteria, with a person approving anything that is kept. The AI Coding Agent Integrations bolt-on connects coding agents to Workspace stories.
These are deliberately modest in scope. If you want AI to run delivery rather than assist it, the AI Product Studio is the AI-native option and does not need bolt-ons.
Which AI models does the AI Product Studio use?
Model providers are configured per workspace rather than fixed by the platform. Provider API keys are encrypted with a dedicated AWS KMS key, stored server-side and never held in the browser; connection tests and model listings are routed through the backend so the key stays server-side.
Plans and pricing
How much does Productivity Workbench cost?
One subscription covers both the Product Workspace and the AI Product Studio, and it is priced per person: a person counts once however many workspaces and studios they work in. Business is £25.00 per person per month + VAT, or £250.00 per person per year paid in advance.
Enterprise is £30.00 per person per month + VAT, or £300.00 per person per year paid in advance, and adds organisation-wide governance. Both are bought by an Organisation from its Billing & Account page. Current prices are always on the pricing page, and a change that would cost you more is announced at least thirty days before it reaches your subscription.
Is there a free plan?
Yes, and it is the way to try the product: there is no trial on any paid plan. Free needs no organisation and no card. A free workspace is for a team of up to twenty running Scrum, with a backlog, sprints, a board and a burndown; a free studio is for one developer.
How is Enterprise billed?
Enterprise is bought by card from your Organisation Hub, monthly or a year at a time, in the same way as Business. There is no trial on either: start on Free, upgrade to Business when you need an organisation, and to Enterprise when you need organisation-wide governance.
Larger estates can have a negotiated rate with a minimum term. Our team sets that contract up for you, it is billed by invoice with your purchase order number and payment terms, and the agreed amount recorded on the contract is the only figure that bills.
How are seats counted?
You buy a number of seats for your Organisation. Each person takes one seat, whether they work in one workspace, several, a studio, or all of them. You can add seats at any time and pay only for the rest of the current period.
When every seat is taken, the next person cannot join until you add one. Nobody who is already in is affected.
What happens if I cancel?
You keep everything you have paid for until the end of the billing period. Then your Organisation is archived and its workspaces and studios return to the Free limits: twenty people in a workspace and one developer in a studio. Anything over a limit becomes read-only until it is brought within it.
Nothing is deleted. Subscribing again reinstates the same Organisation as it was, with everything in it.
Do you store card details?
No. Card entry and payment management are handled entirely by Stripe-hosted pages — Stripe Checkout and the Stripe Billing Portal — so card details never reach Productivity Workbench. There is no card form anywhere in the product.
Security, data and accessibility
Where is my data stored?
Data is stored in AWS in the eu-west-1 region, in Ireland. Every read and write is scoped to your own tenant, so one customer’s data is never reachable from another’s session.
Does Productivity Workbench support single sign-on?
Yes, on Enterprise. Authentication is built on Amazon Cognito, with role-based access control enforced on every route and field-level permissions so a role can be allowed to see a record without being allowed to change parts of it.
Is Productivity Workbench accessible?
We target WCAG 2.2 Level AA and are currently partially conformant. The accessibility statement lists what falls short today and how to report a barrier you have hit, and it is kept current rather than written once.
How do I report a security vulnerability?
Through the vulnerability disclosure page, which sets out how to report an issue, what happens after you do, and the safe-harbour commitments made to good-faith researchers.
