Key metrics

• Commitment accuracy — Points committed at planning start vs. end. Frequent large swaps indicate an unprepared backlog.
• Backlog readiness rate — % of Stories entering the sprint that were Refined and had DoR checked.
• Capacity utilisation — Committed points — Available capacity. Track trend across sprints to right-size commitments.
• Stories without estimates — Unpointed stories pulled into sprints — a planning anti-pattern.

Tips

• A commitment accuracy below 80% usually signals late scope additions — review your sprint entry criteria.
• Low backlog readiness means refinement isn't happening often enough or early enough.
